University Park, IL (October, 25th 2019) – The Lakers drop the season opener to Governors State following a performance where the Lakers only shot 32.3% as a team from the field. The Lakers lose by the score of 68-88.
How it Happened: The Lakers would struggle in the first half getting baskets to fall as the Lakers would only score 23 points going into the intermission. Lakers shot just 22.6% from the field and 27.3% from the three point arc. In the second half, the Lakers shooting improved as the Lakers turned to Taylor Harper who buried a trifecta of three pointers in the game. The Lakers defensive was not up to the task and allowed 50 points in the second half making any chances of trimming the lead impossible. Following two late three pointers by the Jaguars, raised the lead to 20 points where that is where it would stand as the Lakers fall to the Jaguars 68-88.
Up Next: The Lakers will have a quick turnaround as they strap up the laces tomorrow at 1:30PM (CST) to face East West University to close the tip-off classic.
