The Lakers Late Comeback Falls Short

Manitowoc, WI (11.3.2019)- In a closely contested game with multiple lead changes, the Lakers couldn't overcome the hot shooting from Andrews University and fall by the score of 75-68.

How it Happened:

In the first half, the Cardinals and Lakers would play even through the first 12 minutes by the score of 11-11. With 8 minutes remaining in the half, the Cardinals would raise their lead to 6 points by the score of 15-21. The Lakers would respond with a 9-0 run fueled by Bryanth Farr and Byron Dean Jr to lift the Lakers to a 4 point lead with five minutes remaining in the half. The Cardinals responded back in the final five minutes retaking the lead by the score of 34-32 going into the break.

Out of the halftime tunnel, the Lakers would claw their way back to even with the Cardinals following a midrange jump shot by Deloran Oliver to knot the score at 47-47 with 12 minutes remaining in the game. The Cardinals jumped back in the lead following a 12-2 run bringing the lead to 10 points. With the gaming falling out of reach the Lakers turned to Taylor Harper who answered with a barrage of three-pointers to cut the Cardinals lead to one point with less than two minutes remaining. That would be as close as the Lakers would get as Holy Family College was unable to connect from the floor in the final 2 minutes and would lose by the score of 68-75.

Up Next: Lakers will remain home as they play fellow Wisconsin NAIA team, Viterbo University. The game is set to begin at 6:00 PM.
