Fort Wayne and Mishawaka, IN- The Lakers go 0-2 on the NAIA Indiana road trip over the weekend. After losses to University of Saint Francis (88-64) and Bethel University (85-72).
Holy Family College vs. University of Saint Francis (88-64)
The Lakers would fall behind early when Saint Francis would jump out to a 15-1 lead over the first 5 minutes of the game. Saint Francis continued to increase their lead to as high as 22 in the first half. The Lakers would go into halftime down by 18 following a basket by Byron Dean Jr.
Out of the Halftime break, Saint Francis would continue to add to their lead to as high as 28 points. The Lakers would trim the Saint Francis lead to 20 points following a basket by Bryanth Farr. This would be as close as the Lakers would get. That Lakers would fall by the score of 88-64. The Lakers would shoot 41.9% from the field.
Holy Family College vs. Bethel University (85-72)
The Lakers would come out strong defensively and hold Bethel scoreless for the first 3 minutes of the game. Lakers would get on the board first when Bryanth Farr. Following a three pointer from Jalen O'Neal, the Lakers would raise their lead to 3 points by the score of 14-11. After taking a brief lead, Bethel would embark on a 17-7 run to open a 29-21 lead with a little over five minutes remaining in the half. The Lakers would go into halftime down by the score of 38-33.
Coming out of the halftime break, Marc Silas would score on back-to-back possessions to shrink the Bethel lead to one point. With 10 minutes remaining in the half, Bethel University would raise their lead to 12 points with the score at 64-52. The Lakers would be able to trim the lead to 6 points at 7:24 left in the game following a three pointer by Patrick Walls. This would be as close as the Lakers would get and would go on to fall by the score of 85-72.
