Dean Jr Delivers Heroics at the Buzzer for the Lakers

Manitowoc, WI (11.22.2019)- The Lakers welcomed Martin Luther College to Manitowoc in an early season non-conference game. In a packed house; late game heroics from Byron Dean Jr sealed the victory for the Lakers.

How It Happened: The Lakers would open the game falling behind early by the score of 7-2 until Deloran Oliver was able to end the run and inch the Lakers closer. In the first half, the Lakers would have stretches where cold shooting would hamper the Lakers and Martin Luther would take advantage. With 12 minutes remaining in the half, Martin Luther would grow their lead to 12 points with the score being 17-5. With the combination of Bryanth Farr and Oliver, the Lakers would shrink the lead to two points with four minutes remaining in the half. Martin Luther would take a one point lead into the halftime break.

Out of the halftime break, baskets would be hard to come by for both teams. The second half would be back-and-forth with neither team really able to create any cushion. With 11 seconds left in the game, the Lakers would call an isolation at the top of the key for Byron Dean Jr. Dean Jr, would take his man left and pull up at the elbow to deliver the buzzer beating shot to clinch the victory for the Lakers in front of the largest crowd of the season. Lakers win by the score of 61-59.

Up Next: The Lakers will return home when they face Aurora College on Monday, November 25th at 7:30PM.
