How it Happened: The Lakers opened their season with a strong performance. The Lakers would fall behind in the first half by the score of 1-0. Goalkeeper, Isaiah Williams (FR/Katy, TX) came up with big save, after big save in the first half. Including multiple one on one opportunities. Late in the first half with the Falcons looking to go up 2-0. Williams came through with a big save forcing a corner kick that was covered by the Lakers. Into halftime, the Lakers would trail 1-0.
Out of the break, the Lakers would answer in the 48th minute by a goal from Eric Gutierrez (FR/Milwaukee, WI) which was assisted by Joel Mejia (SR/Miami, FL) to even things up. With the score knotted up the Lakers would go on the offensive; another goal by Gutierrez was called back due to an offside infraction. On the following possession, Concordia would take the lead with a controversial goal that put the Falcons up 2-1. From, there the Falcons regained momentum and would score on multiple set pieces to grow their lead. The Falcons would go on to run away with the game by a final score of 5-1.
