Big Performances From Aili and Soto Propel the Lakers to 3rd Place.

West Allis, WI (10.5.2019): On a muddy and brisk day; the Lakers competed in the Warrior Invitational. The combination of Uriah Aili and Elias Soto carried the Lakers to a 3rd place finish out of 17 teams.

How it Happened: The Lakers were led by Uriah Aili, who finished 8th overall with a time of 27:53 on the 8k course, earning Aili a top 10 performance. Coach Tiberg, on Aili's performance, "Uriah ran well in the rough footing conditions. He ran really well against one of the best NAIA teams in the country and was the 2nd highest placing freshman at the meet. He ran another smart race."

The Lakers remaining top five were led by a breakout effort from Elias Soto placing 14th with a time of 28:23; earning Soto a large PR. Valdemar Luna ran a smart race placing 35th with a time of 30:25.

The Laker's top five were rounded out by Eric Rodriguez and Seth Narvaez who placed 48th and 53rd. Despite the tough foot conditions, Coach Tiberg was very happy with the way that his team performed, stating; "The men ran very well for the circumstance. In fact, this team had the highest finish in school history; placing 3rd place despite having one of our varsity runners out. It doesn't get much better than that."

The Warrior Invitational was won by Aurora University with a team score of 78 followed by Illinois Tech with a score of 96.

Up Next: Lakers will be on the road in Grand Rapids, MI to compete in the Great Lakes Challenge hosted by Aquinas College. Lakers are set to race the 8000m course at 12:15 (EST) PM on Saturday, October 26th.
