Cold Shooting in the Fourth Quarter Sinks the Lakers

Manitowoc, WI (11.3.2019)- The Laker's cold shooting in the fourth quarter leads to the second loss at home on the young season to the Andrews University Cardinals.

How it Happened:

In the first quarter, Andrews University jumped out to a 7-0 lead behind the play of Jayde Broussard. The Lakers were finally able to get on the board when Carla Martinez Morant connected on two free throws. The Lakers would trim the lead to two points with three minutes left in the quarter following a layup made by Brianna Holcomb. Andrews would grow the lead back to four points going into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, Andrews would open there lead up to as much as nine midway through the 2nd quarter. The Lakers would pull within four points following a three-pointer from Kaitlyn Roycroft. The Cardinals would respond with a 6-1 run to close the half and take a nine-point lead into halftime by the score of 34-25.

Out of the halftime break, the Lakers would embark on 12-0 run to open the half due in large part to baskets by Brianna Holcomb and Kaitlyn Roycroft. The Lakers and Cardinals would play even in the third quarter and go into the fourth quarter deadlocked at 48-48.

In the fourth quarter, the Lakers would go ice cold from the field and be outscored 14-4 in the fourth quarter. The Lakers would go on to fall to the Cardinals by the score of 62-52.
