LAKERS GO 1-2 IN THE FRIDAY TRIFECTA

Game One: Silver Lake College vs. Mount Mary University (25-22), (25-17), (22-25), (23-25), (20-18)

In the Lakers first victory of the season; Lakers were led by a dynamic performance from standout sophomore Rachel Kluba (SO/Manitowoc, WI). Kluba recorded 5 kills, 34 assists, and 23 digs. In a thrilling back and forth affair Lakers were able to take the victory in a 5 set thriller. With the score tied 15-15, Senior Emily Kretch delivered a kill to put the Lakers up by one. Kretch again would deliver another kill tieing the game at 18-18. Mount Mary would go on to have back-to-back attack errors leading the Lakers to their first victory of the season.

Game Two: Silver Lake College vs. Beloit College (8-25), (7-25), (8-25)

In-game two of the day, the Lakers failed to get into a rhythm against a very talented team from Beloit College. Lakers were led offensively by Senior Tasha Rabe (SR/Kiel, WI) with 6 kills and 2 digs. Lakers would fall in three games,

Game Three: Silver Lake College vs. Emmaus Bible College (20-25), (25-16), (25-20), (15-25), (14-16)

Lakers would open set one 11-22 in the first set of the game and managed to come back and cut it to only four points with Rachel Kluba scoring a big point for the Lakers and cutting the score to 20-24, Even though the Lakers rallied back they dropped the first set to the Eagles 20-25.

The Lakers started off very strong in the second set and jumped out to a lead of 8-1 before the Eagles forced a timeout to try to stop the surge that the Lakers had come into the second set with. The Lakers kept up the intensity coming out of the time out and forced the Eagles to call another timeout with the Lakers leading 18-9 with great play from the Lakers front row and great serving from girls like Rachel Kluba and Brittany Kenneke. Despite dropping the first set the Lakers turned it around and won the second set 25-14.

To start off the third set the Lakers carried the momentum they had in the second set and jumped out to a 6-2 lead and kept pushing the lead despite Emmaus Bible College trying to get back into the game. At one point the Eagles got the set tied up at 17-17 but the Lakers weren't going down without a fight and pulled back ahead 21-17 before making the Eagles call yet another time out. 

The Eagles started the fourth set strong and showed the Lakers that they were here to play, they jumped out to a 10-3 lead and didn't look back extending their lead to 21-13 before the Lakers were forced to call a timeout to try to stop the Eagles momentum from getting out of hand. Despite the Lakers trying to slow down the Eagles they finished off the fourth set and beat the Lakers 25-15.

The fifth set started out very exciting and fast with the Eagles and the Lakers going back and forth with the game being tied 8-8 early. Both teams fought and fought and the game was within one point the whole fifth set until the Eagles rallied and scored three straight points to seal the game in a nail-bitingly close finish.
