Milwaukee, WI (9.23.2019)- After defeating the Blue Angels seventeen days prior; Mount Mary goes on the offensive and sweeps the Lakers in Milwaukee.
How it Happened:
Set One (16-25): In set one, the Lakers would open the game sluggish allowing Mount Mary University to race out to a 9-14 lead to open the set. Holy Family would be unable to halt the run as the Blue Angels would score six of the next eight points putting the Lakers down by the score of 11-20. The Lakers would answer and bring the score within five points behind a flurry of kills from Brittany Kenneke. Following a substitution, Mount Mary University would go on behind serves from Megan Johnson to win set one.
Set Two (19-25): In set two, Mount Mary University stormed out of the gate and did not let up taking a 15-7 lead. The Lakers were able to trim the lead to four points following a service ace from Mackenzie Dvorachek. That would be as close as the Lakers would get in set two as the Blue Angels would roll in set two.
Set Three (18-25): Set three was a different story as the Lakers would jump out to an 11-6 lead following a serving barrage from Kenneke. A combination of kills from Tasha Rabe and Dvorachek kept Mount Mary at bay with the score 17-12. The Blue Angels would proceed to go on a 9-0 run fueled by Adrianna Nester. The Blue Angels would close out the final set only allowing one point over the final 14 combined points.
