Lakers have a Strong Performance at MMU Invite

Milwaukee, WI (10.26.2019) – The Lakers managed to win one game in the Mount Mary University Invite. The four games combined over the weekend brings the Lakers total record to 3-23 on the season.

How it Happened

Game One: Holy Family College vs. Mount Mary University (25-14), (17-25), (22-25) (9-25)

In-game one of day one of the MMU Invite, the Lakers stormed out of the gate in an impressive victory in set one over a familiar opponent in Mount Mary University. The Lakers were led by a 14-7 run to close out the set. In the following set, Mount Mary turned the script and forced the Lakers into 10 errors resulting in Lakers dropping the set. In the pivotal third set, errors were an issue again with 9 errors by the Lakers. The Lakers would drop a close third set. In the fourth set, Mount Mary limited the attack of the Lakers and they would roll to a 4 set victory in the match.  

 

Game Two: Holy Family College vs. Finlandia University (25-22), (22-25), (25-20), (25-21)

Lakers would follow with a match against winless Finlandia University. In a competitive four sets, the Lakers would cruise to a victory marking the 3rd match win of the season. The Lakers were led by a massive 26 kills from Tasha Rabe with an impressive .377 kill percentage. The Lakers also had 35 assist effort from Rachel Kluba the carried the Lakers to a victory over Finlandia.

Game Three: Holy Family College vs. Dayspring Bible College (19-25), (11-25), (25-20),(18-25)

Lakers would open day two of the invitational against Dayspring Bible College. Lakers would put themselves in a hole dropping the first two opening sets. Lakers bounced back in set three with a monster performance from Rachel Kluba who served the Lakers to a 6-0 run to close out the third set. In the fourth set, Dayspring Bible College bounced back and took the fourth set and the match.

Game Four: Holy Family College vs. Milwaukee School of Engineering (9-25), (6-25), (15-25)

Lakers would close the weekend against Milwaukee School of Engineering. In the match, the Lakers struggled to find consistent offense. They were led by Tasha Rabe who contributed with four kills on 29 attempts. Lakers would go on to stumble against Milwaukee School of Engineering to finish the weekend.

Up Next: The Lakers will be finishing their season on the road against Governors State University on Wednesday, October 30th at 6:00 PM.
