Grand Rapids, MI (10.26.2019): On a muddy and brisk day; the Lakers competed in the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge. The Lakers each ran a season's best in a competitive NAIA Race.
How it Happened: The Lakers were led by Ariel Galoff, who finished 52nd overall with a time of 21:37 on the 5k course. "Ariel ran well and is starting to take form for good things to come in the latter part of the season. Ariel is putting herself in a position to make a push for Nationals this year. If she runs likes this at the conference meet she will be in a great spot to qualify again." said Coach Tiberg.
The Laker's remaining roster was led by another good effort from Sydney Budd who ran a large personal record with a time of 22:27 placing 86th. The Lakers were rounded out by season-best races from Yesenia Paredes, Carla Martinez Morant, and Leiman Contreras De La Vega placing 129th, 130th and 141st respectively.
Coach Tiberg was happy with the way that his team performed, stating; "The women ran very well and each earned season records for themselves. We are peaking at the right time of year and I am excited to see what we will do at the conference meet in early November."
The NAIA Great Lakes Challenge was won by Mount Vernon Nazarene with a team score of 64 followed by William Woods with a score of 107.
