Lawrence, KS (11.10.2019): On a sunny morning in Lawrence the Lakers took on the field at the A.I.I. Conference Championship. The Lakers would finish the day placing 3rd in the 6 team field along with one national qualifying performance to capsule an extraordinary day for the Lakers.
How it Happened: The Lakers were led by Ariel Galoff, who finished 6th overall with a time of 21:07 on the 5k course earning 2nd Team All-Conference nod and NAIA National Qualifier honors. "Ariel ran well and really made a statement with this race separating pretty early in the race from the other individual qualifiers," said Coach Tiberg.
The Laker's remaining top 5 were led by a personal record performance from Sydney Budd who ran a time of 22:18 placing 13th. The Lakers were rounded out by Katherine Lopez, Carla Martinez Morant and Yesenia Paredes placing 19th, 21st and 22nd respectively.
Coach Tiberg was happy with the way that his team performed stating; "The women ran very well and each earned the top finish in school history. We had a great day and this team will go down as one of the best teams we have had. I am ecstatic on how the girls ran."
The A.I.I. Conference Championship was won by College of the Ozarks with a team score of 15 followed by Cottey College with a score of 50.
Up Next: Ariel Galoff will be headed to the NAIA National Championship Race in Vancouver, WA. The race is scheduled for 11:30AM (PST) on Friday, November 22nd.
